Sustainable Forestry Policy

Following the declared priorities of development and with the aim to comply with sustainable forestry principles, Sawmill 25 is determined to make it so that by 2008 50% of its raw material supplied would be logged in internationally certified forests.

To achieve this aim, the mill has set the following tasks:

  • to facilitate certification of OAO “Ust-Pokshengsky LPKH”, member of the “Titan” Group;
  • to increase by the end of 2006 the volume of logs supplied from certified forests to 25%;
  • to follow FSC certification principles, to comply with certification requirements to confirm the SW-COC-1716 certificate obtained in 2006;
  • to detect and bar use of illegally logged wood in the technological process;
  • to promote forest certification among other logging enterprises supplying raw wood to the mill;
  • to achieve 50% level of certified raw timber in the total volume of supply by 2008 and start certifying finished products with a logo of the internationally recognized system.

The certification allowed to divide sawn products into the following product groups:

Spruce sawn goods manufactured using the virtual stock system: FSC-Mixed, product code: FSC-mixed w. wood

Pine sawn goods manufactured using the virtual stock system: FSC-Mixed, product code: FSC-mixed r. wood.

  • Committed to comply with the Forest Stewardship Council Principles, Sawmill 25 pledges not to use:
  • timber logged in areas where traditional or civil rights are violated;
  • timber logged in forests not certified by the FSC system and most likely having high conservation value;
  • timber of genetically modified (GM) trees;
  • illegally logged wood;
  • natural forests reclassified into plantation and non-forest lands.
