Following the declared priorities of development and with the aim to comply with sustainable forestry principles, Sawmill 25 is determined to make it so that by 2008 50% of its raw material supplied would be logged in internationally certified forests.
To achieve this aim, the mill has set the following tasks:
- to facilitate certification of OAO “Ust-Pokshengsky LPKH”, member of the “Titan” Group;
- to increase by the end of 2006 the volume of logs supplied from certified forests to 25%;
- to follow FSC certification principles, to comply with certification requirements to confirm the SW-COC-1716 certificate obtained in 2006;
- to detect and bar use of illegally logged wood in the technological process;
- to promote forest certification among other logging enterprises supplying raw wood to the mill;
- to achieve 50% level of certified raw timber in the total volume of supply by 2008 and start certifying finished products with a logo of the internationally recognized system.
The certification allowed to divide sawn products into the following product groups:
Spruce sawn goods manufactured using the virtual stock system: FSC-Mixed, product code: FSC-mixed w. wood
Pine sawn goods manufactured using the virtual stock system: FSC-Mixed, product code: FSC-mixed r. wood.
- Committed to comply with the Forest Stewardship Council Principles, Sawmill 25 pledges not to use:
- timber logged in areas where traditional or civil rights are violated;
- timber logged in forests not certified by the FSC system and most likely having high conservation value;
- timber of genetically modified (GM) trees;
- illegally logged wood;
- natural forests reclassified into plantation and non-forest lands.
